Story Time

Today's entertainment is over on the fishing report at Trout Zone Anglers.  I got to rambling about trips to Yellowstone in warm weather.  Enjoy the story and the pictures of the big brown trout!

  2. david! Beautiful!
I was talking to someone at my job and they are trying fly fishing for the first time here in texas- but in the late spring early summer time they are headed to southern colorado. Any suggestions for them?

    1. That area is probably my favorite in Colorado. I love the San Juans and up to the area around Gunnison. That time of year could be tough because of runoff. If they are close to Gunnison, the Taylor River tailwater section would probably be worth hitting. The flows should be up and spread the big fish out. However, that section can be tough with picky fish. If they are willing to hire a guide it would definitely be a great experience for them. Otherwise, it will all be dependent on runoff. Some of my favorite streams were affected by fires last summer around the Wolf Creek pass area and upper Rio Grande Valley so I can't recommend that area. The Arkansas could be fishing well and the Salmonflies will be on in the Black Canyon of the Gunnison. If they want to pay someone to row them down the river, that would be the trip of a lifetime if they hit it right. Finally, not sure how far south they will be but if they are up near the South Platte in Elevenmile Canyon it should be fishing very well that time of year...
