Country Evenings

There is nothing like watching the sun slowly sink out of sight while surrounded by the sights and sounds of the country. The past two evenings have been a tremendous blessing to me.

Last evening, at the end of jogging four miles, I got back home just as the sky exploded with color. As I had been running, I noticed the high clouds streaming in and thought that we had the perfect setup for a good sunset. Thankfully, the best was saved until I was home and could grab my camera.

This evening I enjoyed a short one mile walk instead of more vigorous exercise. Instead of the aerial display in the sky, the rich evening light was a treat to watch as it lit up the barns, fences, and even cows, especially since I had brought my camera on this walk.

I'm so glad that I live out in the country. It just doesn't get much better!

  1. Jog 4 miles, Jeez you young guys. Makes me tired just thinking about jogging. I might be able to jog from the front door to my truck. Being a Geezer sucks.

    1. Mark, I have this thing where I get really lazy in the winter which makes me out of shape. About the beginning of February I start thinking about all of those great backcountry fishing trips I want to get in for the year and figure it is time to get back in shape. Last year my jogging lasted until early November when it got cold earlier than normal. It paid off when I backpacked back in the summer and wasn't miserable though! Can't wait for some backcountry excursions this upcoming year...

  2. Wonderful photos.
I don't jog 4 miles, but do walk it. The snow knocks it back though.

    1. Brk Trt, thanks for the kind words.
Some days I don't jog and opt to walk instead, but do try to get at least some in each day. If I had as much snow as you all get up north I would probably get a little lazy though...
