If we head up for a weekend, you can bet we'll probably hit Road Prong at some point - that's daughter #1's favorite stream.

One thing I noticed - even with water temps in the mid 40s, the brookies were looking up. By the same token, no rainbows showed up, either on dries or nymphs, until our last day (Thursday), and naturally that was the warmest day. It's obvious that the brookies like the colder water better. Also, even though I saw some spent quill gordons on the water, I didn't see any takers on them. When I did see fish rise, I couldn't see what they were feeding on. I had my best success on size #16-18 Mr Rapidan dries.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-32835299.post-44929152215072722872008-03-30T11:53:00.000-05:002008-03-30T11:53:00.000-05:00ijsouth, glad you had a good trip! Maybe I'll run into you up there...David Knapphttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12480485571834164857noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-32835299.post-53358623910830169882008-03-29T22:12:00.000-05:002008-03-29T22:12:00.000-05:00The fish were there, and hitting dries, even thoug...The fish were there, and hitting dries, even though the water was a bit on the cool side. We left Thursday, but not before hitting Lynn Camp and catching some nice fish. The water temp finally got above 50, and the flies and the rising fish appeared. If there are no more cool snaps, the fishing will really turn on - we're going to have to come back for a quick weekend of fishing next month.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
