Some of the best browns I ever caught were in Deep Creek and I have lost a good many big browns to obstacles as well. One time, sev...I always take wading boots anymore. One time, several years ago, I did a day hike into upper Deep Creek wearing just my Tevas (same ones I hiked in on this trip). Comfort wise it was awesome, but I had a couple of close calls slipping, etc. Now, I didn't have felt on them, but the main problem is that I have weak ankles from too many ankle injuries while playing basketball. I've decided that the peace of mind associated with the great ankle support is worth the extra weight of wading boots.
