Trout Zone Photoblog

I am now working on offering hi-res versions of photographs for sale through a new blog.  The Trout Zone Photoblog will be highlighting what I consider my best photographs and offering them through a website called Fotomoto.  This site allows me to place a toolbar directly into my blog for people to order prints and digital downloads.  I will be including the toolbar here at the Trout Zone as well, just not emphasizing the photographs.  In the meantime, please check out the new Photoblog, and let me know what you think!

  1. Hi David. I really like your close-up fish shots. I'm pretty sure you're not fishing with a DSLR around your neck and I'm really unhappy with my latest choice in a "fishing camera." Any chance you'd be willing to tell me about your preference for a good point-n-shoot for fishing trips when you're alone?
Thanks, and again - very nice job on the up-close-and-personal fish shots!

  2. Owl, I used to carry a small Pentax Optio W30 with me for peace of mind. It has taken some phenomenal shots for me over the years but is somewhat inconsistent. I don't think the sensor is the best... However, since its waterproof it doesn't really matter if it goes in the drink. The last several months though I've started carrying a DSLR with me on the water. Most all my recent pictures were shot with that camera...

  4. Ah ha. Gotcha. Well more power to both (or either) of you guys then. I can't imagine lugging around a large camera and fishing all day. Of course, you guys are probably younger than me, too. :)

I want to tell you that I think you have some of the absolute best fish pics on the internet. I'm jealous and I aspire to get some shots that are 1/2 as good as the ones you're posting some day.
Thanks for the info on the camera. My last one was a Nikon coolpix that I dunked and that was that. I'm lookin' into a WP one now, too. The older I get, the more I ruin stuff. :) LOL

    tight lines!

  5. Owl,

Thanks for the kind words about the pictures. Mostly I just get lucky... About the camera again, I know several companies are making WP cameras now and I highly recommend getting one. You will definitely feel a lot better carrying it on the stream as compared to a non-waterproof camera...
