Guided Trips

FISHING REPORT AND SYNOPSIS: 07/01/2018

Heavy rains recently means the Caney Fork River is back up. Streamer fishing will be decent to good, but this is not for everyone. Fishing in the Smokies continues to be excellent.

Wet years normally produce some fantastic fishing in the Smokies and this year is no different. No matter where we fish, it seems that the fishing is amazing this year. We have seen some nice brown trout, big rainbows, and lots of good sized brook trout this year.

Now we are getting into standard summer terrestrial fishing. Ants, inch worms, beetles, and even occasionally hoppers are all getting it done.

On the Caney Fork, flows should start coming down within a week or two. Once we start seeing low water again, the usual nymphs and midges should produce along with some terrestrials and even streamers.

Happy New Year's Day!!!

Happy new year's day from the Trout Zone! I hope that your 2016 is memorable and that you are able to make memories with friends and family, hopefully at least some of the time out on the water. My fishing is going to be cut back a little here in January and February. That is not to say that I won't be fishing. On the contrary, I will be guiding up in the Smokies this next week and hopefully fishing here and there as well. However, I'm looking forward to bigger and better things this year and things like travel and new boats all require money. That means I have to conserve somewhere.

  1. Happy New Year to you, too! I'm with ya on the saving $$ part. Have a few trips planned, and want to make sure I have more than enough funds to cover them.
