A Full Moon, An Eclipse, and Good Fishing

Last night was the last lunar eclipse until 2010. Naturally I wondered if the fish would be at all affected by the phenomena but was too busy trying to take pictures of the eclipse to go fishing. Unfortunately I still don't have a good zoom lens for my DSLR but still had fun trying to get some pictures.

Today was supposed to be one of the top fishing days of the month based on the solunar fishing tables so at the last minute I decided to run down to my new fishing hole and try my luck. The fishing was solid, not great but definitely worth the trip. Here's a few pictures from the afternoon...

No kidding dude. I don't totally believe in solunar tables, but if they coincide with great frontal conditions, hey bring it on. WEnt today with a buddy on the Caney from 9-5 chuckin' gamakatsu tacos [jerkbaits]. Took 73 total, all but about 15 below 14", and a good 15 of those between 16"-19". Ironically, alot of the larger fish were rainbows...except for teh 24 1/2" brown I nailed. Be happy to take you out sometime man. I think generation is key to big fish, at least the monsters. Still gotta work the kinks out though.

  2. Hello,

A friend of mine referred me to your blog and I think it’s sweet! I’ve been checking it out for awhile and figured I should reach out to you.

I run a fly fishing community site and many members have submitted their blogs to be pulled into the FFC feed. I’d be very happy to see you do the same.

Basically you sign up, add your blog URL(s) to your profile, and they start getting pulled into the site. Anytime you make a new post, it shows up on my site. It is simple to do and will definitely increase your readership.

Please let me know if you’d be willing to sign up and add your blog. http://www.flyfishingcommunity.com

    Thanks!

  4. Nice site guys. I truly believe that the solunar tables play a part in fish activity, but like anything else it is only one variable that comes into play. Depending on the body of water, time of year, and fish species there are so many variables to be considered that it seems foolish to base an entire fishing trip solely on the moon phase.
